As humans and professionals it's easy to find our comfort zone. Unfortunately, it's even easier to get caught in our comfort zone and not even realize it. We may be hard at work feverishly contributing to the common goal yet we grow increasingly unaware of our own complacency and more content with the status quo. Most of us, if not all of us have been there at one time or another. This "safe place" is a dangerous place to be. Someone once told me; "it's important to learn to accept people for who they are but it's even more important to learn how to challenge them to be better than they are." I agree with this one hundred percent however, my thought is that we need to start with ourselves. Accept where you are, except who you are, then push yourself to be better than you are. Get out of your comfort zone, think outside the box, take some risk and live. Pursue success, run it down and then pass it. A quote I try to reflect on when I catch myself in my comfort zone is this:
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."
